Supply and Demand

Recent articles in the NZ Herald have focused on the drastic increase in New Zealand property prices. Just the other day in fact, a couple purchased a house on the edge of Auckland’s city centre for $1M, $400,000 above its valuation. Supply is low, and demand is high and people are willing to stretch their limits to get on the ladder. While this is good news for sellers, the same can’t be said for investors. Many individuals looking to rent their properties are struggling to find tenants. Cast a Safety Net

Just last year a Russian billionaire purchased a condo in New York City for his daughter, valued at approximately $88M. United States Tops the List

Just over a week ago Reuters magazine reported that America dominates the list for overseas property investment. For the first time in a decade, four out of the top five cities in the world on the list are in the United States. While the view was rather dismal for 2012, optimism is the theme for 2013, with many overseas investors expressing an interest in increasing their U.S. holdings this year.
